Weight Loss Ideas For The Whole Family - Great Tasting Diet Low-Calorie Snack Ideas

The hardest part of sticking to a diet is often the constant nagging hunger in your gut - you still feel hungry in between meals but you don't want to blow your diet by eating too many calories. What should you do?

Good news! The snack choices below can easily satisfy your hunger without blowing your calorie count for the day.

- Fresh vegetables with low fat dip

People often crave "crunchy" snacks like potato chips, but such an indulgence usually comes with a price in the form of hefty calories and fat.

Believe it or not, crunchy vegetables can be just as satisfying - and they have the added benefit of being rich in fiber so they keep you feeling full longer. Good choices are green and red bell peppers cut into strips, carrot sticks, cucumber spears, cherry tomatoes, and raw cauliflower and broccoli florets. There are also some great dip choices available beyond the high-fat sour cream variety. Consider spicy salsa, garlic hummus, low calorie salad dressing, or even a low-fat version of a sour cream dip. (Careful with that last one - sometimes food manufacturers use starchy fillers to replace fat, so you're still taking in extra calories.)

- Grilled kabobs

During the summer, a favorite grilled choice for a meal or snack is a "kabob" with chunks of lean chicken, shrimp or beef and vegetables. For added flavor you can add chunks of garlic or onion, or marinate the meat before skewering - or for a vegetarian twist, replace the meat with chunks of portobello mushrooms. During colder months when your grill is hibernating, you can use a broiler drip pan in the oven for similar results.

- Fresh fruit

Many fruits are relatively low in calories and sugar, and they make a great snack if you're craving something sweet. Good low calorie choices are berries, grapefruit, peaches, cantaloupe, and apples (especially if you eat the peel, more fiber means slower digestion and a less measurable spike in blood sugar).

You don't have to eat fruit plain, either! Whip it up into a smoothie with sparkling water and ice; make a dip with low-fat yogurt and agave nectar; bake some apples with almond slivers and sprinkle with nutmeg and cinnamon - there are tons of easy recipes for fruit desserts that will satisfy your cravings while keeping within your calorie range for the day.

These ideas are just the tip of the iceberg too - there are endless options for low-calorie, great tasting snacks; you just have to get creative. I Hope These Tasty Snacks Will Be Enjoyed And Help Keep You Keep To Your Weight Loss Program
