The Number 1 Nutrient You Need For Fat Loss

There are two classes of nutrients right now. You have your macronutrients and your phytonutrients. Macro nutrients are made up of protein, carbohydrates, and fats. Phytonutrients are the various anti cancer fighting compounds found in fruits and vegetables.

There are so many of these that scientists haven't even been able to discover them all. They probably know more about the surface of the moon than about phytonutrients. Anyhow, out of all these nutrients, the main one that is always misplaced or misused is protein.

When someone embarks on a fat loss journey, they usually go on a strict diet. I have seen many crazy diets out there and I have been on many to get cut for the upcoming summer. However, one of the main things that I see with a lot of these diets is they do not have enough protein. Here is why.

Protein is very thermogenic. It is actually 30% more thermogenic than carbs or fats. What this basically means is the body has a harder time breaking down protein than carbs or fats, so in turn you burn more calories just because you consumed protein. Also, protein has muscle sparing effects. When you go on a sever diet and protein intake is low, your body will start breaking down muscle tissue to use those amino acids. With an increase in protein intake, this phenomenon will not happen because your body now has an ample supply.

This is just 2 reasons why you need more protein in your diet in order to safely lose fat. If you do not adhere to this rule, you will undoubtedly lose muscle tissue, thus putting your physique at risk.

These are just 2 guidelines you need to follow to lose fat at a maximum rate. There are many more where this came from.
